Yasmeen Ahmed Pattie has 20 years of relationship building and project management experience in the fields of real estate, non-profits, life sciences, city government, and economic development. Throughout her career, she has focused on developing and creating spaces that make a positive impact for both users and the surrounding community. Toward that end, Yasmeen works with small, growing companies to find, lease, and fit out new office spaces and lab facilities, and advises larger organizations on development and planning initiatives, strategy, and policy.

For 20 years Yasmeen has been building relationships and delivering top-tier project management in the fields of real estate, non-profits, life sciences, city government, and economic development. Since putting out her own shingle, her projects have included the New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC)’s Life Science Infrastructure Initiative (LSI2) report, a facilities assessment for Civic Builders on behalf of Newark Public Schools, and Rutgers University’s proposal for an on-campus tech innovation park. 

Yasmeen was the first consultant, and then the first employee, brought on to the New York Genome Center (NYGC), a non-profit research collaboration among 16+ preeminent medical and research institutions including Memorial Sloan-Kettering, North Shore-LIJ (now NorthWell), and Weill Cornell Medical College.  She oversaw site selection, leasing, design and construction, and interior fit-out of their new 170,000-sf home at 101 6th Avenue, and also directed a number of non-real-estate projects critical to NYGC’s success, including opening their initial office space; public and private fundraising; government relations and incentives; and marketing events. 

Before NYGC, Yasmeen worked in the incentives consulting practice at Stadtmauer Bailkin LLP (now Akerman Senterfitt), saving clients hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes through city and state incentive programs. At EDC, she supported the development of City-owned sites like the La Marqueta marketplace in East Harlem, the United Nations expansion project, and the Audubon Biotechnology Incubator. Yasmeen was also the lead project manager for the disposition of the City’s flagship bioscience campus, the Alexandria Center, taking the project from RFP through to lease execution; the Center is now preparing to build its third tower. She has worked and maintains relationships with numerous City agencies, non-profits, and other institutions in New York.

Yasmeen received her undergraduate degree in Classics at Amherst College and her master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of California at Berkeley.  She lives with her family in Port Washington, NY.

Projects

New York Genome Center: 

  • Led site selection process from needs analysis through lease execution, analyzing 100+ potential sites in four boroughs, managing 10-member team of architects, engineers, and expediters
  • Assembled and directed construction and design team for $55-million gut transformation of 170,000-sf space into world-class lab, office, and training facility; project was on-budget in tight 9-month timeframe
  • Independently supervised design, planning, and execution of LEED Gold certification, roof garden, interior design and fitout, signage, and café, implementing needs and desires of NYGC scientists and leadership
  •  Saved over $1 million by continuously seeking cost-reduction opportunities throughout project duration
  • Drafted, negotiated, and oversaw consultant contracts and invoices throughout pre-construction and construction for over 60 consultants from 20 firms; analyzed and managed $5 million in change orders
  • Secured $10 million in project funding through City and State programs and private philanthropy: Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, NYSERDA, Empire State Development Corporation, NYCEDC

NYCEDC: Strategic senior-level advisory for Life Sciences Infrastructure Initiative (LSI2) - full-scale implementation plan to promote the development of wet-lab facilities throughout New York City. With BJH Advisors and Buro Happold Engineering
